New Scam That is Targeting Wildfire Members

A new phone call scam has been discovered that is currently targeting our members. If you receive a call in the future that appears to be from our fraud department or from us and the person on the other end begins asking for personal information hang up immediately and contact our call center directly.

For this particular reported scam the fraudsters are using a caller ID that appears to be our fraud department and they come across as such, already having some of the member's personal information such as a card number or partial card number. Once they have a member on the phone they will ask them if they completed a certain transaction, the transaction of course is made up, prompting the member to say no. From there the fraudster tells the member that they will be taking their card out of service. If you come in contact with such a call, or a call that asks for your credit/debit card information hang up immediately.

The fraudster may also ask a member they come in contact with if they have a mobile wallet account under Apple Pay, Samsung Pay, or Google Pay. If the member says no, the fraudsters tell them that they will be sending them a verification code that will come through as a text message or email. Meanwhile the fraudster is actually going through the process of adding a member's card in a particular mobile wallet with the member's help by asking for personal information such as a credit card number, expiration date, and security code. Because they are portraying us, the fraudster will come across as rather convincing.
