FRAUD ALERT

Beware of Fraudulent Calls and Texts

Wildfire members are actively being targeted!

Multiple Wildfire members have recently fallen victim to a wave of fraudulent calls and texts involving claims of suspicious account activity. Please be on the lookout for the following scam:

  1. The initial contact: The victim receives a call or text from someone claiming to be a Wildfire representative, often using a common name like “Steve” or “Bob,” who claims to have detected suspicious activity on their account.
  2. The request for verification: The scammer asks the victim to share their One-Time Passcode (OTP) to their online banking, claiming they need it to investigate the suspicious activity.
  3. Unauthorized transactions: Once the victim shares the code, the scammer gains access to their online banking and initiates multiple unauthorized person-to-person (P2P) transfers to steal their money.

Here's how to protect yourself:

  • NEVER share your OTP. Wildfire will never ask you to disclose a one-time verification code over the phone or by text.
  • DON'T trust caller ID alone. Scammers can make calls and texts appear to come from Wildfire.
  • Hang up and contact us directly. Use the phone number on our official website or the back of your card to verify suspicious requests.

Monitor your transactions. Contact us if you notice unfamiliar activity.

Already shared a code or suspect fraud? Contact Wildfire immediately—acting quickly can help us work with you to secure your account. When it comes to your money, stop, verify, and never share your One-Time Passcode!
