Unfortunately, hackers and scammers like to use their time to try and steal your private information and your money leading to new threats and scams popping up every day. We got your back though and have provided you with some resources to make sure you are well defended against potential frauds and scams.

REMEMBER THIS: DO NOT give any personal information out to anyone, unless you started contact.

Wildfire employees will never ask for that information like:

  • Account number
  • Username and Password
  • PIN
  • Card number

Tips & Tricks to Help Keep You Safe

Unexpected Contact

  • Be very cautious of any phone call, text message, or email you receive requesting personal information, especially if you did not take prior action. When in doubt, throw it out!

Create Secure Passwords

  • Length: Between 8 and 64 characters long
  • Complexity: Use a mix of special characters such as %, $, and !, numbers, and upper and lowercase letters.
  • Phrases: Try to use phrases for passwords and make them complicated.
    • Example: I Like To Travel = I<32trvl! or iL!k3t0Tr@vl
  • Avoid: Reusing passwords on different accounts and easy-to-learn passwords like birthdates or personal information.
  • Never share your password.

Phishing Emails and Websites

  • Pay close attention to sender's email address.
  • Hover over link with your mouse to view the address in full.
  • Look for poor language or grammatical errors or designs that seem poor or off.
  • If the email enacts urgency, this is a red flag.
  • When in any sort of doubt, throw it out and contact the company or person through a different method to verify if the email
    is safe.

Online Shopping

  • Shop only from legitimate and trusted online retailers/websites.
  • Use secure payment methods like credit cards or platforms such as Paypal or Apple Pay.
  • If your browser sends you a security alert about the website, steer clear of making purchases.
  • As always, when it doubt...throw it out!
