Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced, detail-oriented person to join our team as an Assistant Controller. The ideal candidate will help direct the Credit Union’s corporate accounting systems and functions; ensures the accurate and timely recording and reporting of the organizations financial position and operational results; prepares required regulatory and other government reports; monitors related policies and procedures and recommends improvements; and ensures that accounting functions are in accordance with established legal, regulatory, and Credit Union procedures.
Responsibilities
- Assists with ensuring effective performance of all Corporate Accounting department functions.
- Effective, accurate, and timely completion of accounting recording and reporting functions.
- Effective, accurate, and timely completion of regulatory and government reporting functions.
- Establishes and maintains effective business relations with vendors and other external contacts.
Required Knowledge
- Complete knowledge of accounting concepts, practices, procedures, and financial reports.
- Complete knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, government regulations and reporting requirements.
- Knowledge of budgeting, forecasting, and analytical practices and procedures.
- Knowledge of Asset-Liability Management concepts and practices.
- Knowledge of related auditing concepts.
- Knowledge of financial institution environment, operations, and information flow.
Education/Certification
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance Required.
Experience Required
- Three to five years of accounting experience, preferably in a financial institution.
